Two Bodies, Two Stages — Don't Get Confused

Uttarakhand's D.El.Ed admission process involves two separate government bodies, each responsible for a different stage:

• UBSE (Uttarakhand Board of School Education) — conducts the entrance exam and declares the result/merit list.
• SCERT Uttarakhand (State Council of Educational Research and Training) — conducts counselling and district (DIET) allocation once the merit list is out.

Important Dates — D.El.Ed Entrance Exam 2026

On exam day: entry to the hall starts at 9:00 AM, admit card checking runs 9:00–9:30 AM, OMR sheets are distributed at 9:30 AM, the test booklet seal breaks at 9:55 AM, and the test runs 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM.

Eligibility Criteria

• Educational qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Science or a Non-Science (Arts/Commerce) stream from a university established by law in India, completed before the application deadline.
• Age limit: Not less than 19 years and not more than 30 years as of 1 July 2027. There is no relaxation on the minimum age; the upper limit is relaxable for reserved categories as per the state government's rules, and separately for ex-servicemen.

Seats & Reservation

650 total seats — 325 for the Science group and 325 for the Non-Science group, distributed as 50 seats per DIET across all 13 districts of Uttarakhand. Vertical and horizontal reservation applies as per Uttarakhand government rules; the reservation benefit (not the right to apply) is available only to original residents of Uttarakhand.

Application Fee

Payment is accepted only via net banking, debit/credit card, or UPI — no offline mode.

Exam Pattern

• 200 objective (MCQ) questions, 1 mark each, on an OMR answer sheet — no negative marking.
• Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes.
• Bilingual question paper (Hindi and English).
• Questions are mainly from General Knowledge/Awareness, General Intelligence & Reasoning, Numerical Ability, and Teaching Aptitude — at a level expected of a general graduate.
• Selection is purely on entrance exam merit — there is no interview. If two candidates score equally, the older candidate ranks higher; if age also ties, alphabetical order of name (English) decides.

Exam Centres

The written exam will be held across 29 cities spanning all 13 districts of Uttarakhand, including Dehradun, Haridwar, Roorkee, Rishikesh, Haldwani, Nainital, Almora, Pithoragarh, and more. You'll choose two preferred cities in order of preference during your application — once allotted, the exam city cannot be changed.
