CBSE has announced the new CTET exam date. Via a Public Notice dated 14 September 2026, CBSE confirmed that the 22nd edition of CTET — postponed from its original 6 September 2026 date — will now be conducted on 12 and 13 December 2026.
What's Confirmed (14 September 2026 Notice)
- The 22nd edition of CTET will be held on 12 and 13 December 2026 — see the full CTET Exam Date calendar for every milestone between now and exam day.
- Your allotted exam city and exam date will be made available on the CTET portal 15 days before the exam (expected around 27 November 2026).
- The admit card, containing your exam centre details, will be available for download 2 days before the exam (expected around 10 December 2026).
- Candidates who already applied — whether during the original window or the reopened 25 August–1 September 2026 window — do not need to reapply; your application carries forward automatically. Full details are on the official CTET notification page.
How We Got Here
CBSE's CTET examination was originally scheduled for 6 September 2026, but was postponed following a Supreme Court direction concerning the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) requirement. CBSE reopened the online application window from 25 August to 1 September 2026 for candidates who had missed the earlier deadline, followed by a correction window that closed 10 September 2026. With the exam city/date and admit card details still pending, CBSE has now confirmed the rescheduled exam date itself.

- Mark 12 and 13 December 2026 on your calendar — with roughly 3 months to prepare, this is a good time to lock in a study schedule.

- Watch the CTET portal from late November for your exam city/date slip, and from early December for your admit card — don't wait for a reminder email.
