Eligibility

Requirements vary by post — check your specific post code in the official notification (PDF) — but the general pattern is:

  • Personal Assistant (most posts): Intermediate pass + Hindi shorthand minimum 80 words/minute + Hindi typing minimum 4000 key-depressions/hour on computer.
  • Stenographer, Uttarakhand Public Service Tribunal: Intermediate pass + English & Hindi shorthand minimum 80 WPM + typing minimum 40 WPM.
  • Stenographer Grade-3, Power Transmission Corporation: Graduate degree + English shorthand 80 WPM / Hindi 60 WPM + Hindi typing 6000 KDPH / English 7000 KDPH + a minimum 3-month MS Office certificate.
  • Stenographer Grade-2, Bridgekul: Intermediate + shorthand/typing certification with Hindi shorthand 25 WPM / English 30 WPM, plus at least 3 years' relevant experience.

Age Limit

18 to 42 years, as reckoned on 1 July 2026 — meaning you must be born between 2 July 1984 and 1 July 2008. Personal Assistant (Judicial & Legal Academy) and Stenographer Grade-3 (Power Transmission Corporation) posts require a minimum age of 21 years.

Age relaxation: SC/ST/OBC candidates get 5 years, Divyang (PwD) candidates get 10 years, dependents of freedom fighters get 5 years, and ex-servicemen get relaxation as per the applicable rules.

Exam Pattern

  • Stage 1 — Written exam: 100 objective (MCQ) questions, 100 marks, 2 hours. Syllabus: General Hindi (20 marks), General Intelligence & Reasoning + History, Geography, Polity, Economics, Current Affairs, Computer Basics (40 marks), and General Knowledge of Uttarakhand (40 marks).
  • Negative marking: ¼ mark deducted per wrong answer; no penalty for unattempted questions.
  • Minimum qualifying marks: 45% for Unreserved/OBC/EWS, 35% for SC/ST.
  • Stage 2 — Skill test (qualifying only): Candidates shortlisted at 4 times the number of vacancies, based on written exam merit, are called for a shorthand and typing test specific to their post. This stage does not add to your merit score — it's pass/fail.

Application Fee

CategoryFee
Unreserved / OBC₹300
SC / ST / EWS₹150
Divyang (PwD), all categories₹150
OrphanNo fee

Payment is accepted only via credit/debit card, net banking, or UPI.

Selection Process

  1. Written competitive exam (objective type, 100 marks) — determines the merit list.
  2. Qualifying shorthand & typing skill test for candidates shortlisted at 4x the vacancy count.
  3. Document verification of category, education, and experience certificates for finally shortlisted candidates.

If two candidates score equally on the written exam, the older candidate ranks higher; if age also ties, English alphabetical order of the name decides.

How to Apply

Apply online only through the official UKSSSC website: sssc.uk.gov.in. The process has 5 steps — registration with Aadhaar, filling educational/personal details, uploading photo/signature/thumb impression, fee payment, and printing your application. Don't pay any third party claiming to fill or submit your form — this is meant to be done directly by the candidate.

Why This Matters for CTET/UTET Aspirants

If you've built up strong Hindi/English shorthand and typing skills alongside your teaching exam prep, this is a genuine parallel government-job route worth considering — the written exam syllabus (General Hindi, GK, Uttarakhand GK) overlaps significantly with what you're already studying for CTET/UTET.
